Cooper Nest est. 1989

My husband and I were married in 1989. We moved to this house at that point and raised our family. 1989 seems so old when you look at it in roughed up print, but it is more than 20 years, so by all rights it's 'vintage' correct?

After getting my new issue of Somerset Home, I saw something that inspired me and I could create without spending a penny. I ran over to Sandy's studio and stole a few of her tart tins, then I invited her to play with me. Here are snapshots of our day.

You can see how Sandy displayed hers on her facebook wall. Thank you to Rita who had her work published so we all could be inspired.

I'm back and getting it all together again!

Today is my Baby Girls 18th Birthday and I am not able to be with her to celebrate, but her brother and some of her hometown friends are with her. She must have really been on my mind while creating my latest project. Love you Bird!

Whew! It has been some time since adding to the blog, but here we go. Sandy, Laura and I had a craft date. Just like the old days. Momma even stopped by to chat and visit. All in all a great day.We knew we were going to be making an assemblage, but did not know how it would turn out.

Here you see a little box holding pearls of wisdom, a vintage pearl bracelet that I could not bear to cut up to make the pearls of wisdom that are sold in the shop. (something told me to leave it in tact) and some coconut buttons gathered from a trip to Hawaii in '07..
The next box I made is representing the fact that my baby girl has moved to Idaho.
This cute little number is a true vintage knob that my friend sandy & I took off the doors in an old farmhouse that was going to be torn down. I added a little pearly goodie to the middle.

this was an odd one. Not knowing what I was going to do next, I was flipping through a pad of paper and came across this one. It just happened to my wedding anniversary, so it became the focal point of this box.

We like out red wine, what can I say?

I feel artful at times. It fit.

I came across this spool of thread at a yard sale, turned out to be the daughter of my neighbor who was selling her moms sewing stuff. Small world. The crystal mouse sits nicely on this old spool.Button paper backs this little box.

I have a photo of my mother wearing this clip on the shoulder strap of her dress in 1966

Time ages things, but they are still beautiful. That is the way I  feel sometimes.

Bird in flight, again, my daughter (aka Bird) has flown away from the nest and is now finding new treasures to cherish as she goes through the Journey of life.

This is a seven point box, if you add scrabble points.

A rock that my daughter made a silly face on now sits upon some cushy moss and has a feather hat straight from our own yard.
A unique bottle given to me by Laura who wanted to do something crafty with these, now we all three have them in a shadow box assemblage. The wand is a reminder of how we made fairy wands on her birthday.

The Key, I love keys, and that bow. It took 43 years of tying bows and never being happy with them until Sandy showed me the proper technique, Thanks Sandy, This bow's for you.

The pewter hose was brought back from Germany by my mother.
This little box has no story to tell and not much going on other than a sticker that I really like to look at. Maybe it reminds me of a simpler time when I used to sew all day long.

Putt all together, you have a snapshot of parts of my life.

Buying Time...

Have you ever wanted more? Wonder where to get it? Wish you could give it to someone? Well now you can thanks to my crazy ideas that will simply not jump out of my head once in there.

During a crafting weekend I had the notion to make 'Time in a Bottle' I thought it had such a catchy ring to it and was repeating it all weekend long.

I did not know exactly how it was going to look, but HAD to make it. Here is my version of 'Time in a Bottle' I made a few errors along the way and if I ever make these again, I will correct them, however, I am still pleased with them.

As I was about to race off to photograph my newest brain extraction, I thought about how I could make it stand a little taller and then, the pedestal portion was incorporated.

Remember, Everything looks better on a pedestal.

These little gems will be debuting in the Vintage Corner shop this afternoon, and now I have that out of my brain. Whew!
What would you do with your extra 'Time'???

My Cup Runneth Over

I have not been blogging lately, (well, here anyway) due to the fact that I have So many pokers in the fire, I had to get things in order. Not only have I been teaching art to children, I now have another class of reading students. That makes two classes per day.  Check out the class blog to read more about this.

Then there is the store: Vintage Corner. I also run the blog for them as well as make goodies to have in there for people in need of the perfect gift!

Here are a few goodies we have been busy creating:
Remember Blue Chip Stamps?

Get these great vintage tags in the shop.

Silver chalkboard

We went away for a creating weekend to make lots of goodies for the shop. You won't be able to see all of the items, because they sold before we even got home. That is a good thing!!
Here is what you WON'T see in the shop.

Then there is the fact that my youngest is moving away to college, (good thing tear drops don't show up and smudge on the computer). As much as this is a good thing, I am grappling with the idea of not seeing her smiling face each morning. But I will have her warm kitty to keep me  happy.

My oldest recently got himself a new baby, her name is Sarah and I get the pleasure of Sarah sitting while he is at school.
Isn't she adorable???
